XTimeWork Privacy Policy
Effective 25 October 2026 · Developer: Denis Blumenstein
This policy covers XTimeWork (also called TimeKeeper), its iOS app and its home-screen widget. XTimeWork is a personal work-time tracker. The app includes no advertising, analytics SDK, account registration, subscriptions or in-app purchases.
Work records and local storage
Work sessions, breaks, notes, workplace names and coordinates, preferences and local backup files are stored on your device or in the app group shared with the widget. The developer does not operate a server that receives these records and cannot access your work history. System device backups may include app data, depending on your Apple settings.
Optional location automation
You may create up to three workplaces and enable location-based start/stop suggestions or actions. With your permission, Apple's Core Location checks entry and exit from those workplace regions. Background automation requires Always location permission. Location is used for this feature, not for advertising or tracking across other companies' apps or websites. There is no location feed to the developer or a data broker.
The workplace map, address search and optional current-location lookup use Apple's MapKit and Core Location services. Apple may process map requests, search terms and location data needed to provide those services under Apple Maps privacy information. You can enter coordinates manually. Manual time tracking does not require location permission. Disable workplace automation in the app or revoke location access in iOS Settings at any time.
Optional iCloud transfer
iCloud is off by default. If you enable it, the app writes a snapshot of sessions, breaks, workplaces (including their coordinates) and settings to your own iCloud Drive container. When local records are empty, an available cloud snapshot can restore them. This release does not merge concurrent edits across devices. The developer cannot access your private iCloud container. Apple's account, storage and privacy rules apply. Turning the feature off stops future transfers; it does not remove copies already in iCloud.
Backups and sharing
Manual and scheduled backups are stored locally. Scheduled backups run when the app is open or resumes. Export creates a readable JSON-based .tkw file containing work records, workplace coordinates and settings. Exported files are not password protected. The iOS share sheet lets you choose where to save or send a copy. A recipient or storage service you choose can read it. Importing a backup replaces the app's work records and workplace configuration.
Notifications and widget
Location suggestions use local notifications if you allow them. The widget reads shared local app state and can start or stop a session or break. The app does not send marketing push notifications.
Your controls
You can edit or delete sessions in the List tab and remove workplaces in Settings. You can disable automation and iCloud transfer and delete exported backup copies through Files or the service where you saved them. Removing the app does not delete copies in iCloud, system backups or files you exported; manage those copies separately using Apple's or your storage provider's tools.
Tracking and developer data collection
XTimeWork does not collect data for the developer, sell personal information, link activity with third-party advertising data or track users across apps and websites. No advertising identifier is used. App Tracking Transparency permission is therefore not requested. Apple-operated system services and any destinations you select for exports remain subject to their own policies.
